Netflix Set to Purchase Historic Radford Studio
Netflix is reportedly in talks to buy the Radford Studio Center (formerly CBS Studio Center) in Los Angeles for around $330 million. The lot is a historic 55-acre production campus with multiple soundstages and has been home to shows like Big Brother, Seinfeld, and many classic TV productions. Owning a major studio lot would strengthen Netflix’s move from “streaming platform” to a full-scale Hollywood studio operation. It would also give Netflix premium real estate in one of the world’s top entertainment markets.
This purchase for Netflix will:
- Expand its physical production footprint in Hollywood
- Control more in-house filming space
- Reduce reliance on renting outside studio lots
- Increase long-term production capacity in Los Angeles
Netflix buying “a studio” right now, the possible purchase of Radford Studio Center in Los Angeles if completed, it would give Netflix one of Hollywood’s most famous production lots.
