What’s Appropriate Screen time for kids?
Recreation is the only time I truly enjoy the youngster engaged in gaming.
We can all attest that in this time and era of rapid accessibility, Internet, and social media available everywhere, literally screens are everywhere because of the way we interact and communicate with one another. It has become much harder for parents to stay on top of screen time. It is so very important that you can’t just forget to be mindful and monitor the time your child play or engage in screen time with games, apps and other media.
What is the appropriate screen time for your child or children?
The American Academy of Pediatrics discourages media use by children younger than 18 to 24 months. For children ages 2 to 5, limit screen time to one hour a day of high-quality content programming. Have your child or children engage in something more informative or instructional i.e. tutorials, how to’s, that encourage creating, building, drawing, and physical or hands on projects.
In the learning as you go process of monitoring screen time, you will find and it is certainly common, is that nothing is set in stone, as your child or children grow, a one-size-fits-all approach doesn’t work. You the Parent will need to decide how much media screen time to allow your child use each day and what types of media are appropriate.
