Why It’s Popular

Pier 360 traces its roots to Santa Monica’s historic paddleboard and lifeguard competitions dating back to the 1930s. Today it attracts thousands of locals and visitors for a weekend showcasing the best of Southern California beach culture, ocean sports, music, food, and family entertainment.

For Los Angeles-area residents, it’s one of the best free summer events happening before the Fourth of July holiday weekend.
