Los Angeles Minimum Wage raise to $15.00 hr
By Let's Talk Los Angeles on February 11, 2015
Los Angeles is considering raising its minimum wage to $15 an hour, from $9 currently. The proposal is causing excitement and some anxiety. San Francisco and Seattle have already passed a $15 minimum wage, they will rise to that level over the next few years, but what’s different in LA is the number of working poor in this huge city. So the $6 an hour difference is being discussed at city hall. This will be great for fast food workers, students and others who receive minimum wage, but it could be a strain for small business owners as they may have to down size (lay off) workers or hike prices for products and services.
