LA street vendors want the mayor to make their work legal
Street vendors in Los Angeles who sell food, toys and other items in parks and on sidewalks throughout the city are ready for Mayor Garcetti to give them the “green light” when it comes to doing their jobs legally. Sources say that street vending in Los Angeles is approximately worth more than $500 million each year. Many of the vendors are mad with the mayor’s choice to sign an ordinance passed by the Los Angeles City Council that bans unlicensed vending in all city parks. The restrictions on vending in the city is set to take effect Sept. 27, although the mayor says he’ll sit down with the protesters and hear them out but as of now his decision still stands.
