Amazon Grocery stores opening in LA
The e-commerce giant plans to open “dozens” of grocery stores in major U.S. markets that aren’t a part of the upscale natural and organic grocery chain Whole Foods.
Amazon is set to open the first of these stores in Los Angeles this year and has signed leases for a couple of additional locations with launches slated for 2020.
The new stores would offer a shopping alternative to Whole Foods, which carries only products free from artificial colors, flavors, preservatives, sweeteners and hydrogenated fats and operates with a commitment to sustainable agriculture.
The as-yet-unnamed new chain would offer a wider selection of products, presumably at a lower price point.
