Hollywood’s Biggest TV Stars Take Over Downtown Los Angeles for the 78th Emmy Awards.
The 78th Emmy Awards are happening today, Monday, September 14, 2026, in Downtown Los Angeles, and this is the main Primetime Emmy ceremony—not the Los Angeles Area Emmys, which were held in July.
🏆 78th Emmy Awards — Downtown Los Angeles
The ceremony takes place at the Peacock Theater at L.A. LIVE, 777 Chick Hearn Court in Downtown Los Angeles. The televised ceremony begins at 5:00 p.m. Pacific / 8:00 p.m. Eastern and airs live coast-to-coast on NBC, with live streaming on Peacock.
Mariska Hargitay, the longtime star of Law & Order: SVU, is hosting this year’s ceremony. The Television Academy says the show will also help mark NBC’s 100th anniversary.
The biggest nomination leaders include The Pitt with 25 nominations, Hacks with 24, Widow’s Bay with 19, and Pluribus with 18. The Pitt is looking to repeat as Outstanding Drama Series, while Hacks and Widow’s Bay are among the major comedy contenders.

The ceremony will feature a 30th-anniversary celebration of Buffy the Vampire Slayer with Sarah Michelle Gellar and David Boreanaz, as well as a 50th-anniversary tribute to Charlie’s Angels featuring Kate Jackson, Cheryl Ladd and Jaclyn Smith. Noah Kahan will perform “Bridge Over Troubled Water” during the In Memoriam segment. Presenters include Zendaya, Jon Hamm, Sally Field, Amy Poehler, Florence Pugh, Keke Palmer, Macaulay Culkin and others.

Local viewers don’t have to wait until 5 p.m. KTLA’s “Live From The Emmys” runs from 3–5 p.m. PT, while E!’s main Emmy red-carpet show runs 3–5 p.m. PT. NBC also has an official red-carpet TikTok livestream from 4–5 p.m. PT. The Television Academy’s Backstage LIVE! coverage begins at 5 p.m. PT.
For people traveling through Downtown LA today, the Television Academy says its attendee vehicle checkpoint is at Figueroa Street/Washington Boulevard, opening at 2 p.m. Ride-share pickup after the event is designated along the north side of Olympic Boulevard near the L.A. LIVE restaurants.
