L.A.’s First Luxury Gas Station
Maggie’s: A New Luxury Gas Station Concept Coming to Los Angeles. There has been a lot of buzz on social media claiming that Maggie’s is coming to Beverly Hills, but based on the company’s public announcements, Maggie’s has not confirmed a Beverly Hills location. The company has only announced that its first location will open somewhere in the Los Angeles area, with additional locations planned later.
Maggie’s is a new Southern California startup that wants to transform the traditional gas station into a premium hospitality experience. The company describes itself as “The First Nice Gas Station.” Rather than simply selling fuel, Maggie’s aims to become a destination where people actually want to stop.
The Founder
The company was founded by Alex Canter, a fourth-generation member of the family behind the famous Canter’s Deli and co-founder of the restaurant technology company Nextbite. His hospitality background is shaping the customer-focused approach of Maggie’s.
What Makes Maggie’s Different?
Instead of the typical convenience store, Maggie’s plans to feature:
- Premium barista-made coffee and espresso drinks
- Ceremonial-grade matcha
- Fresh pastries from local bakeries
- Fresh grab-and-go meals
- Pressed juices
- Gourmet snacks
- Premium soft-serve ice cream
- Craft beer and fine wine (where permitted)
- Modern, upscale interior design
- Exceptionally clean restrooms
- EV charging alongside traditional gasoline pumps
- Outdoor seating and a welcoming atmosphere
More Like a Boutique Café Than a Gas Station
The goal is to combine elements of:
- A neighborhood coffee shop
- A specialty market
- A convenience store
- A premium gas station
The company wants customers to stop because they enjoy the experience—not simply because they need fuel.
Funding and Growth Plans
Maggie’s has raised approximately $2 million in early-stage funding from venture capital firms including Matchstick Ventures, Mucker Capital, and Everywhere Ventures.
The company plans to:
- Open its first Los Angeles-area location
- Convert existing gas stations instead of building entirely new ones
- Expand throughout Southern California
- Eventually grow across the West Coast if the concept is successful.
Opening Timeline
The current target is for the first Maggie’s location to open during the second half of 2026, although the company has not announced an official grand opening date or address.
