LACMA’s Summer Concert Series 2026

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) has brought back two of Southern California’s most popular free outdoor music series for summer 2026:
Jazz at LACMA (Fridays)
- When: Every Friday evening from May through October 2026
- Time: 6:00–8:00 p.m.
- Location: Smidt Welcome Plaza, just behind the famous Urban Light installation.
- Admission: Free and open to everyone (no tickets or reservations required).
- What to expect:
- Live performances by many of Los Angeles’ top jazz musicians.
- Bring a picnic, lawn chairs, or blankets and enjoy music under the evening sky.
- Family-friendly atmosphere.
- Concerts are recorded and broadcast on KJAZZ 88.1 FM.

- July 3 – Ray Charles Alumni Band
- July 10 – Jonathan Pinson’s Boom Clap
- July 17 – Ray Fuller Band
- July 24 – David Ornette Cherry Heritage Ensemble
Latin Sounds (Saturdays)
- When: Every Saturday from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend
- Time: Generally 5:00–7:00 p.m.
- Location: Hancock Park adjacent to LACMA.
- Admission: Free.
- Music includes:
- Salsa
- Afro-Caribbean
- Brazilian
- Cuban
- Mexican
- Peruvian
- Indigenous Latin music
- Contemporary Latin fusion
- Many evenings encourage dancing, and select performances feature a dedicated dance floor. Food vendors are available on some dates.
Why it’s so popular
- One of Los Angeles’ longest-running free summer concert traditions.
- Beautiful outdoor setting surrounded by LACMA’s campus and the nearby La Brea Tar Pits.
- Great date night or family outing.
- Visitors often combine the concerts with dinner at nearby restaurants along Wilshire Boulevard or a visit to LACMA’s galleries before the performance.
Visitor Tips
- Arrive 30–60 minutes early for the best seating.
- Bring a blanket or low-back chair.
- Parking is available in LACMA’s Pritzker Parking Garage and nearby paid lots, though they can fill quickly on concert nights.
