Go LA Metro to Fifa Events
The Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority, commonly known as LA Metro, is playing a major role in helping move fans, workers, media, and visitors during the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup matches in Los Angeles. Metro has been named the official public transit provider for the Los Angeles host city and is coordinating transportation plans across Southern California.
Los Angeles is scheduled to host eight World Cup matches at SoFi Stadium, referred to during the tournament as “Los Angeles Stadium.” Metro officials say their goal is to reduce traffic congestion, improve crowd movement, and encourage fans to use public transportation instead of driving.

Here are the major details of Metro’s World Cup support plan:
Enhanced World Cup Transit Service
Metro will operate special direct bus services before and after every match. Buses are expected to begin running up to four hours before kickoff and continue up to 90 minutes to two hours after matches end.
Direct Shuttle and Park-and-Ride Locations
Metro plans to transport fans directly from major transit hubs and parking locations across the region, including:
- Union Station
- North Hollywood Station
- Downtown Long Beach
- LAX/Metro Transit Center
- Pierce College
- ARTIC Anaheim Station
- Torrance Transit Center
- Downtown Santa Monica
These locations will connect riders directly to shuttle drop-off areas near the stadium.
Rail Connections and Airport Access
Metro’s C Line and K Line rail services are expected to play a major role in moving fans around the region. The newly opened LAX/Metro Transit Center is being promoted as a key connection point for visitors arriving through Los Angeles International Airport.
Fans arriving by air will be able to connect from airport shuttles to Metro rail lines and then to dedicated World Cup buses serving the stadium.
Affordable Transit Pricing
Metro announced that World Cup transportation fares will remain close to standard Metro pricing:
- $1.75 one-way
- $3.50 round-trip
Some park-and-ride reservations include shuttle transportation for everyone in the vehicle.
Partnerships Across Southern California
Metro is partnering with regional transit agencies including:
- Metrolink
- Long Beach Transit
- Big Blue Bus
- Culver CityBus
- Orange County Transportation Authority
- Omnitrans
The agencies are coordinating schedules and routes to help visitors travel throughout the region during the tournament.
Focus on Sustainability and Traffic Reduction
Metro officials say one of the biggest goals is reducing vehicle congestion around the stadium area in Inglewood. Parking around the venue is expected to be extremely limited and expensive, so public transportation is being heavily promoted as the preferred option.
Customer Experience and Safety
Metro also plans to add:
- multilingual wayfinding signage
- extra staff and ambassadors
- crowd management teams
- enhanced cleaning and security
- special event branding and fan experiences
Officials say the transit system is being designed to handle large international crowds efficiently while showcasing Los Angeles to visitors from around the world.
