Family and friends come out and enjoy fireworks shows and patriotic displays in a fun safe environment at a variety of events celebrating the 4th of July in many locations. Here is the line up:
Studio City’s Fireworks Festival With a theme titled “All You Need Is Love,” you can’t go wrong at this celebration. There will be a performance by Beatles tribute band Paperback Writer, a Television Motion Picture Car Club show, rooftop fireworks, magicians and a kid’s fun zone.

CARSON The city’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks Celebration will kick off at 11 a.m. July 4 at the StubHub Center (formerly Home Depot Center), Field 7, with food, vendors, a kiddie carnival, nonstop entertainment and raffle prizes. The day will culminate with a professional fireworks display, courtesy of the L.A. Galaxy, at about 9:40 p.m. In addition, there will be a Filipino-American Friendship Day celebration from 5-6 p.m. Attendees are invited to picnic with family and friends; carpooling is suggested. Paid parking will be available at the StubHub Center and shuttle service will be offered from the Carson Civic Center, 801 E. Carson St., starting at 10:30 a.m. Admission is free. Marina del Rey
Marina del Rey’s Fourth of July fireworks will be shot off a barge in the Main Channel at 9 p.m. July 4. The 20-minute show can be viewed from various spots around the waterfront, with the best spots at Burton Chace Park (where spectators can listen to synchronized music on KXLU-FM 88.9) and Fisherman’s Village. The park is at 13650 Mindanao Way (one block west of Admiralty Way) and Fisherman’s Village is at 13755 Fiji Way. Palos Verdes Estates
The Palos Verdes Independence Day Committee will hold its 53rd annual celebration at Malaga Cove School, 300 Paseo del Mar, Palos Verdes Estates. The free event starts at 9:30 a.m. July 4 and will feature an All-American pie contest, bike parade, guest speakers and presentation of the Kenneth T. Norris Heritage Freedom Award to actor G.W. Bailey, who also will serve as guest speaker. He will be honored for his volunteer work with the Sunshine Foundation, a nonprofit that provides free fun activities for children with cancer. Rancho Palos Verdes
The city’s 38th annual Independence Day celebration will be from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Upper Point Vicente Park, 30940 Hawthorne Blvd. Highlights include music by the Palos Verdes Symphonic Band and a country band, arts and crafts, rides, games, hula hoop contests, a petting zoo, pet adoptions, food court rides and more. Admission is free, and a complimentary shuttle will run from the Ralphs store on Hawthorne Boulevard to the lot adjacent to the Point Vicente Lighthouse on Palos Verdes Drive West. Redondo Beach
• The Village Runner will host its 21st Fourth of July 5K run/walk, starting at 8 a.m. Friday and the children’s Firecracker Dash starting at 9:30 in Riviera Village. In addition, Rock & Brews will host the post-race party at its location near the finish line. Registration is $30 for children and $35 for adults. (The city pier at the foot of Torrance Boulevard is another good choice.) The fireworks show starts at 9 p.m. The gates to Seaside Lagoon at 200 Portofino Way will open at 2 p.m. to paying ticket holders. The lineup of events includes swimming, kids arts and crafts, entertainment, paddleboard races, a kids parade and more. San Pedro
• On July 3, fireworks will cap a Los Angeles city-sponsored event featuring live music, U.S. military exhibits, tours of a Navy frigate, armed forces, U.S. Coast Guard demonstrations, displays by the L.A. City Fire Department’s firefighting boat, and the Washington Artillery re-enactment group. The events will be held at Cabrillo Beach, 3720 Stephen M. White Drive, San Pedro. Admission is free. • The 64th annual John Olguin July 4th Spectacular at Cabrillo Beach will be held from 2-10 p.m. July 4 and will feature a food truck festival and end with a 9 p.m. fireworks show. Admission is free. White Drive, San Pedro. • The 38th annual Community Observance and Ringing of the Korean Friendship Bell ceremonies will begin at 10:30 a.m. July 4 at Angels Gate Park. Highlights include keynote speakers and music. The guest speaker this year is Councilman Joe Buscaino. Families are invited to stay the day and watch the fireworks later that evening that can be seen from Cabrillo Beach. Admission is free.
• The Battleship Iowa will celebrate Independence Day with a three-day event that includes live music, barbecue food, face painting and tours of the historic ship. Tickets are $15/$12/$7. The ship will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 4-6. • The Muller House Museum at 1542 S. Beacon St. invites the public to an Independence Day Ice Cream Social and to get a bird’s-eye view of the Cabrillo Beach fireworks from 7:45-9:30 p.m. July 4. Cost is $5.50. Torrance
The Briles family of Torrance will once again have its privately funded fireworks show off the coast of Torrance beach. Jackie Briles covers the cost of the show in honor of her late husband. The pyrotechnics will begin between 9 and 9:15 p.m. July 4 from a barge.
Westchester
The 15th annual Fourth of July Parade, sponsored by the LAX Coastal Area Chamber of Commerce, will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. July 4 on Loyola Boulevard, beginning at Westchester Park and traveling north to Loyola Marymount University.
