State of Music in Media Conference 2018

The Guild of Music Supervisors has announced a first wave of confirmed programming for the GMS 4th Annual ‘State of Music in Media’ conference to be held on the USC campus on Saturday, September 15, 2018. The conference will bring together music supervisors, composers, music publishers, record labels, production libraries, music attorneys, recording artists, artist managers, film and television producers and directors, music editors, entertainment educators and studio and network executives to discuss and explore the current state of music in media and engage in the conversations that will help shape the direction of the industry.

Programming will cover music in film, television, advertising, games, promos and trailers. Subjects will include music clearance, creative analysis, working to a creative brief, overviews on how composers are hired, music supervisor listening sessions, approaches toward cultivating greater diversity in the industry, creating opportunities and support networks for women, learning the basics of running a small business, overviews on health care and addiction recovery, the impact of blockchain and other emerging technologies and many other subjects key to the music and media landscape.

The morning will feature a keynote address and general interest programming at Bovard Auditorium, followed by a networking lunch at Queen’s Court. The afternoon will feature more focused and diverse programming with 28 panels, lectures and A/V presentations offered in 6 venues. The evening will include a catered dinner, social mixer, silent auction and live music performances in three venues. The conference will run from 9am to 10pm and include breakfast, lunch and dinner.
