Safer at Home Order Extended
Los Angeles County Safer at Home Order has officially been extended to May 15, 2020. There have been 475 new cases confirmed as of Friday, with 900 cases in the past 48 hours, according to Dr. Barbara Ferrer, director of the L.A. County Department of Public Health.
“The most difficult part of the COVID-19 pandemic is losing people to this virus,” said Ferrer. “To all of you who have lost loved ones; we are deeply sorry and as you heal from your loss please know you remain in our thoughts and prayers every day.”
The current “Safer at Home” health order has been extended until May 15, as Los Angeles county continues to flatten the curve of coronavirus, according to the DPH. Face coverings are required across the county, in efforts to curb the spread of COVID-19, according to the director of public health. The cloth coverings are required for both employees and the public upon entering essential businesses. This new addition to the order is set to go into effect Wednesday, April 15, at midnight.
Dr. Barbara Ferrer also states “We have in fact seen what we now could confirm is, in fact, the flattening of the curve in a way that’s actually saving lives and allowing us to have a chance at making sure that our healthcare system remains able to serve all who need care,” updates will be provided later Friday afternoon.
