Onion Bloom

Ingredients:

1 Sweet Onion

1 cup All Purpose Flour

1/2 cup Corn starch

1 tbsp. Seasoning Salt

1 tsp black pepper

1 tsp Garlic powder

1 tsp paprika

2 egg

1 cup milk

3 cups Vegetable oil

Directions:

  1. Heat vegetable oil on medium heat, use a deep fryer (if you have one) with min or max cooking oil per fryer instructions or use a Medium deep pot add 3 cups of cooking oil
  2. In a large bowl mix together all the dry ingredients
  3. In a separate large bowl whisk the milk and egg
  4. While the oil is heating cut the pointed top of the onion off then place that cut top onto a cutting board and slice down the onion from bottom core down to the top which should be facing downward, cut around the onion until it looks like the picture below
  5. Now turn over onion top up, fray the petals gently and place the Sweet onion in the dry ingredients first and coat well
  6. Then carefully with a slotted spatula move the onion into the bowl of egg and milk mixture use a spoon to cover entire onion even between the petals
  7. Repeat step 5 shake off excess dry ingredients
  8. Deep fry until golden brown 10-14 min.
  9. Garnish with fresh parsley, use any dipping sauce of your choice and serve its absolutely delish!
